Microneedling

Microneedling treatment

At Blackabeys we believe in combining microneedling with mesotherapy treatment in order to maximise your results and enhance your skincare regime.

Microneedling can be performed in a multitude of different ways but at Blackabeys we use the Dermapro pen to glide over the skin, temporarily breaching the skin barrier.

Whilst your face is numb from local anaesthetic cream, the dermapro pen makes small fine punctures in the skin which encourages the stimulation of the skin repair process. By encouraging the stimulation of the skin repair process, the blood supply to the skin is increased, leading to an increase in cell regeneration, collagen production and new blood supply formation.

After breaching the skin barrier. Mesotherapy treatment is used to enhance your results and are completely bespoke to you. You can read more about mesotherapy by clicking here.

At A Glance: Microneedling treatment

  • Microneedling at Blackabeys is performed with the Dermapro pen which breaches the skin barrier with small fine punctures to encourage cell regeneration.

  • Primarily, microneedling is used on the face, neck and décolleté.

  • Microneedling is purchased as a course of 3 or 6 in order to maximise the benefits of the treatment. It is used in combination with mesotherapy in order to enhance your results. Treatments are repeated every 4-6 weeks.

  • A topical local anaesthetic cream is applied to the area of the skin to be treated for at least 30 minutes. The microneedling and mesotherapy alone then takes a further 30 minutes. However this will take longer if more than one area is to be treated in one session.

  • The risks and benefits of treatment will be discussed with you by Dr Victoria at your consultation. You will also have a two week cooling off period prior to your appointment to ask any further questions you may have.

    The main risks are:

    Pain

    Bleeding

    Infection

    Allergic reaction

  • Dr Victoria will discuss this with you both at the face-to-face consultation and you will also be provided with aftercare forms after the procedure.

After the procedure you will notice swelling and sometimes redness or spot bleeding from the micro needling. This will settle after 24-48 hours.

    We advice for 24 hours:

No ibuprofen/aspirin unless advised to do so by Dr Victoria

    No alcohol

No saunas/ steam rooms/ strenuous exercise

We also advise not to touch the face following treatment as this can introduce infection as well as changing to a new pillowcase at night.

We advice a gentle cleanser the night following your treatment with normal routine to start the following day unless Dr Victoria comments otherwise at your treatment.

You will also be provided with emergency information after the procedure in case of an emergency and a detailed description of symptoms to look out for.

Please note: treatments with microneedling are not suitable close to a special event due to downtime so please take this into account. We also advise no other treatments for 2 weeks after treatment with Botulinum toxin or dermal filler. Dr Victoria may cancel your treatment if your safety is put at risk.
